The daughter of actor and music director Vijay Antony tragically passed away by suicide on Tuesday. Meera, aged 16, was discovered lifeless at her residence in Chennai’s Teynampet in the early hours of Tuesday. She was subsequently rushed to a hospital in Mylapore but was pronounced dead by the attending doctors.
A senior police officer shared, “The child was rushed to a private hospital at Mylapore early this morning. Doctors declared her brought dead. It appears that the child took her own life.”
Meera was one of the two daughters of actor Vijay Antony and his wife Fathima. She was a 12th-grade student and had been grappling with stress, as reported. She was enrolled in a private school in Chennai. Her body has been sent for post-mortem, and investigations are currently underway.
The news of Vijay Antony’s daughter’s tragic passing has prompted expressions of grief from numerous Tamil actors and directors. Director Venkat Prabhu expressed his condolences, saying, “Woke up to this shocking news! Deepest condolences to Vijay Antony Saar and family. RIP Meera.”
Veteran actor R Sarathkumar, via his official social media account, described the news of the “untimely and unfortunate” demise of Vijay Antony and Fatima’s daughter as “shocking beyond imagination.” He added, “No amount of consoling and condolences can replace the everlasting grief of Vijay Antony and Fatima.”
