Roopa Ganguly, renowned for her portrayal of Draupadi in the iconic TV show Mahabharat, faced tumultuous challenges in her personal life despite professional success.
Born in Kalyani, West Bengal, Roopa began her career in 1984 with the film Paar and gained recognition through various projects. However, her breakthrough came with the 1988 Mahabharat series directed by BR Chopra, where her portrayal of Draupadi earned immense love and attention.

In 1992, she married Dhruba Mukherjee, and their love culminated in the birth of their son Akash in 1997.
