‘BTS’ Jimin Vows to Bring ‘Better Music’ Home After MAMA 2023 Triumph

In a grand finale at Tokyo Dome, Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA 2023) saw the acclaimed K-pop sensation BTS clinching numerous accolades, including the prestigious Worldwide Icon of the Year. Despite the group’s current hiatus due to mandatory military service, Jimin, one of its members, emerged victorious as the Best Male Artist, securing eight nominations in the ceremony.

Unable to attend the event, Jimin expressed gratitude to their dedicated ARMYs through a heartfelt message on Weverse. The South Korean singer and dancer promised to deliver even better music, stating, “We will do our best to show you better music and performances. Thank you again, and I love you.”

Jimin’s impact extended beyond the Best Male Artist title, with his album “Face” earning recognition in the Album of the Year category. His tracks “Like Crazy” and “VIBE” contended for Song of the Year and Best Dance Performance Male Solo, respectively. Meanwhile, BTS as a group seized victories in various categories, including Worldwide Icon of the Year (Daesang) and Worldwide Fan’s Choice. Notably, the group claimed Best OST for “The Planet,” Best Rap/Hip-Hop for “People Part 2” by Agust D, Best Male Solo Dance Performance for “Seven” by Jungkook, and Best Collaboration for “Seven” featuring Latto.

While Jimin embarks on his mandatory South Korean military service, along with fellow members RM, V, and Jungkook, the label, Big Hit, shared the news and assured fans that the artists are preparing to fulfill their duties. The popular group is anticipated to reunite in 2025. During their hiatus, BTS enthusiasts can catch a glimpse of the group’s journey in the upcoming docu-series titled “BTS Monuments: Beyond The Star,” scheduled for a worldwide premiere on December 20 on Disney Plus. The series promises an in-depth exploration of the remarkable journey of BTS.
