The fervor surrounding BTS’ decade-long journey reached its peak on Saturday as the group’s leader, RM, met with enthusiastic fans, culminating in a spectacular fireworks display near the iconic Han River that runs through the heart of Seoul.

Dedicated fans of the K-Pop supergroup, BTS, congregated in Seoul, the capital city of South Korea, on Monday to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the band’s debut. Despite the group being on hiatus, with two members currently fulfilling their mandatory military service, loyal supporters from around the world, known as the “ARMY,” gathered in Seoul throughout the week.

With their groundbreaking success in K-Pop, BTS has amassed an immense international following, making significant strides in the U.S. music charts and industry awards.

Seoul City Hall and Namsan Tower, among other landmarks, were bathed in the signature color of BTS—purple—as a tribute to the group. Fans from France, Mexico, and various other countries flocked to Seoul to witness these vibrant displays.

“I arrived in Korea last week, and seeing Namsan Tower in purple is truly surprising and exhilarating,” expressed Rita, a 20-year-old student from France and a devoted ARMY member since 2018.

Organizations and businesses have also joined in the commemoration, with the city of Seoul collaborating with BTS’ management agency, HYBE, to organize tours of landmarks associated with the group. South Korea’s postal service issued special commemorative stamps in honor of BTS’ debut anniversary.

Hyundai Department Store, Lotte Cinema (a unit of Lotte Shopping), and S-Oil are among the companies offering special promotions and hosting events to celebrate this milestone.

The climax of the celebrations occurred on Saturday, with BTS leader RM meeting with fans, followed by a breathtaking fireworks display near the Han River, beautifully dividing the city of Seoul.

In a heartfelt Twitter message on Sunday, BTS member JungKook conveyed his gratitude to the fans, saying, “Thank you for teaching us a little, or maybe even too much, about happiness and love. I want to keep walking with all of you for the next 10 years as well.”
