BigHit Music, the agency representing BTS, has initiated legal actions against individuals who have repeatedly sent packages and mail to the artists’ residences, resulting in harm to the artists’ families. In a statement shared on Weverse, the agency announced that they have filed criminal complaints and secured an interim restraining order from the court, with investigations ongoing.
The agency stated, ‘Hello. This is BigHit Music. Our company regularly initiates legal proceedings against perpetrators of malicious activities related to BTS, including defamation, personal attacks, sexual harassment, the spread of groundless information, and ill-intentioned criticism. We would like to provide an update on these important activities. During this quarter, we filed multiple criminal complaints with law enforcement agencies based on evidence related to acts infringing on the rights of the artists, including defamation, submitted by our fans as well as collected through our own monitoring.’
The statement also mentioned their commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against stalking crimes and ensuring the privacy and safety of their artists.
They highlighted that some suspects had previously been declared non-suit in the second quarter of 2022 but were ultimately found guilty of personal attacks and defamation against the artists, resulting in legal penalties.
BigHit Music concluded the statement by urging fans to report any malicious activity related to BTS. The boy band consists of RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook.
