Renowned Bollywood actor and fitness icon, Sahil Khan, finds himself entangled in legal woes as the Mumbai Police have booked him in connection with the Mahadev betting app case. The FIR, naming Sahil as accused number 26, alleges his involvement in promoting, propagating, and operating the Mahadev app to accumulate substantial profits.
The legal action follows a complaint lodged by Mumbai-based social worker Prakash Bankar, who claims that individuals have been defrauded of over Rs 15,000 crore through the Mahadev betting app. The Matunga Police have initiated proceedings under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, the Gambling Act, and the IT Act, with an ongoing investigation into the matter.
Sahil Khan, known for his roles in films such as Style, Xcuse Me, and Alladin, along with his reputation as a fitness master and YouTuber, allegedly organized celebrity parties to promote the Mahadev app and entice more users.
The Enforcement Directorate is simultaneously investigating the case, which has drawn attention to several Bollywood actors following recent crackdowns on various betting and gaming apps by law enforcement agencies. Notably, some promoters of these apps have been arrested in recent weeks, further intensifying the scrutiny on the industry.
As the legal proceedings unfold, Sahil Khan’s involvement in the Mahadev betting app case adds another layer to the ongoing investigations into illicit activities in the realm of online betting and gaming, emphasizing the need for stricter regulations and heightened vigilance in the industry.
