Avinash Dhyani, a multifaceted artist excelling as an actor, writer, and director, finds his passion in crafting war films, a heartfelt homage to his father’s military legacy. Following the success of “72 Hours: Martyr Who Never Died” (2018), centered around rifleman Jaswant Singh Rawat, Dhyani embarks on his latest project, “VC571,” shedding light on the extraordinary courage of rifleman Gabar Singh Negi, a Victoria Cross recipient in World War 1.

Dhyani, 36, shares the profound influence of his late father, Diwakar Dhyani, a former member of the 11th Garhwal Rifles and an NSG Commando. Raised on captivating tales of war heroes, both father and son hailed from the same regiment. Although his father envisioned a military path for him, Dhyani’s heart was set on the cinematic realm, a choice wholeheartedly supported by his father. The war films he undertakes stand as a poignant tribute to his father’s memory.

Hailing from Pauri Garhwal but shaped by a childhood in Delhi and Dehradun, Dhyani intimately experienced military life as his father became a drill instructor at the Indian Military Academy. His fascination with films ignited when, as a schoolboy, he watched Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s “1942: A Love Story,” sparking a determination to become a hero in the world of cinema.

Dhyani’s journey into the film industry involved theatrical pursuits, followed by a relocation to Mumbai, where he immersed himself in various film departments, plays, and the intricacies of filmmaking. While acknowledging the challenges, he emphasizes the true struggle faced by his parents, who supported him during his Mumbai endeavors.

Reflecting on his filmography, Dhyani unveils diverse projects, including “Phooli,” a heartwarming venture with children and locals from Pauri Garhwal, potentially gracing OTT platforms soon. Simultaneously, post-production efforts are underway for “Saumya Ganesh,” a love story intricately woven around the theme of diabetes.

Dhyani’s commitment to showcasing the beauty of Uttarakhand in his films extends to his choice of talent, combining seasoned actors with fresh, trained faces. Recognizing the challenges of breaking into the film industry, he remains dedicated to providing opportunities to emerging talents.
