Ashley Park, widely recognized for her role as the outspoken and fashion-forward singer Mindy in Emily in Paris, is now sharing a deeply personal and transformative experience that unfolded during the holiday season.
The 32-year-old actor recently revealed on her verified Instagram account the harrowing health scare she faced, turning a bout of tonsillitis into a critical septic shock that impacted several of her organs.
In a heartfelt message, Park expressed her gratitude for the support she received during this challenging time. She disclosed that her health has shown improvement despite initial concerns, crediting her “Emily in Paris” co-star and partner, Paul Forman, for unwaveringly standing by her side throughout the ordeal. In a series of photos and videos shared from her time in the hospital, Forman is seen offering unconditional support, calming fears, and navigating the complexities of healthcare in foreign hospitals.

Addressing Forman in her Instagram post, Park wrote, “You calmed my fears and held me through ambulances, three foreign hospitals, a week in the ICU, scary ERs, countless scans and tests and injections, excruciating pain, and so much confusion all while we were alone on the other side of the world far from those we know. I love you, Paul. More than I can ever say.”
The actor also expressed appreciation for Joali Being, a wellness island in the Maldives, for their immediate response and vital support, including language translations during her medical crisis.
Sepsis, a severe reaction to infection, can lead to septic shock, the most critical stage. According to the Cleveland Clinic, septic shock can cause organs to shut down, requiring immediate treatment. In 2020, the Lancet journal reported that sepsis accounted for 1 in 5 deaths globally, underscoring the urgency of addressing the condition promptly.
In the comments section of Park’s post, Lily Collins, her on-screen counterpart, shared her emotional response, stating that she “can hardly look at these without crying” and expressing her enduring gratitude for Park’s recovery.
Ashley Park’s journey to recovery serves as a testament to resilience and the power of support during challenging times. Her openness about the experience not only sheds light on the severity of sepsis but also emphasizes the importance of gratitude and solidarity in overcoming health crises.
