Akshay Kumar, the renowned Bollywood actor, made a significant announcement on Gandhi Jayanti by revealing his upcoming film, “Sky Force.” This movie is set against the backdrop of the 1965 India-Pakistan War and is centered around the true story of India’s first-ever and most lethal air strike.
In a video clip shared on Instagram, the one-minute teaser begins with a voiceover referencing the threat posed to India prior to the 1965 war. The text on the screen reads, “Muhammad Ayub Khan, President of Pakistan, 6th September 1965, India-Pakistan war.” It then transitions to an archival video of former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri responding to the threat, followed by the words, “The untold true story of India’s first and deadliest air strike.”
“Sky Force” is directed by Sandeep Kewlani and Abhishek Kapur, featuring Akshay Kumar and marking the Bollywood debut of Veer Pahariya. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on October 2, 2024, and is presented by Jio Studios and Dinesh Vijan, with a screenplay by Sandeep Kewlani.
Akshay Kumar captioned the Instagram post with patriotic fervor, saying, “Aaj Gandhi-Shastri Jayanti ke din saara desh keh raha hai (Today on the day of Gandhi-Shastri Jayanti, the whole country is saying) – Jai Jawan, Jai Kisaan, Jai Vigyaan, Jai Anusadhan.
No better day than today to announce the incredible story of Sky Force: Our untold story of India’s first and deadliest airstrike. Give it love, please. Jai Hind, Jai Bharat. Presented by Jio Studios and Dinesh Vijan, Sky Force takes flight in cinemas on 2nd October 2024.”
It’s worth noting that in August, Akshay Kumar was spotted filming scenes for “Sky Force” in Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh, where he was seen riding a motorcycle amidst tight security. He acknowledged his fans by waving at them from a distance due to the barricades separating them. This project adds to Akshay Kumar’s already packed schedule, which includes other highly anticipated films such as “Mission Raniganj: The Great Bharat Rescue,” “Soorarai Pottru” Hindi remake, “Bade Miyan Chote Miyan,” and “Housefull 5.”
