Renowned Tamil actor Mansoor Ali Khan is now facing legal repercussions after being booked under Section 354 A (sexual harassment) and Section 509 (word, gesture, or act intended to outrage modesty of woman). The charges stem from his alleged insensitive remarks directed at actress Trisha Krishna.
The incident came to light after an inquiry was conducted on November 21, leading to the formal filing of a case against Mansoor Ali Khan, as reported by The Hindu. This development follows the National Commission For Women’s (NCW) intervention, urging the Tamil Nadu Director General of Police to take swift action against the actor.
In a statement issued last month, the NCW expressed deep concern over Mansoor Ali Khan’s derogatory remarks towards Trisha Krishna. The commission emphasized the need to invoke IPC Section 509 B and other relevant laws, condemning such remarks for normalizing violence against women.
Mansoor Ali Khan’s controversial comments surfaced in a viral video on social media. In Tamil, he remarked, “When I heard that I was acting with Trisha, I thought there would be a bedroom scene in the film. I thought I would carry her to the bedroom just like I did with other actresses in my earlier movies. I have done so many rape scenes, and it’s not new to me. But these guys didn’t even show Trisha to me on the sets during the shoot in Kashmir.”
Trisha Krishna, in response to Mansoor’s comments, broke her silence, denouncing the actor’s words as “sexist, disrespectful, misogynistic, repulsive.” In a statement, she expressed her strong condemnation, emphasizing that such remarks have no place in the film industry or society at large. Trisha affirmed her commitment to avoiding any future collaborations with individuals who perpetuate such disrespectful behavior, asserting that such actions tarnish the reputation of the industry.
As the legal proceedings unfold, Mansoor Ali Khan’s case serves as a reminder of the importance of holding individuals accountable for perpetuating harmful stereotypes and fostering an environment of respect within the entertainment industry.
