Traffic change in Chennai for Chess Olympiad closing ceremony on August 9

The traffic police has announced where the traffic changes will be in Chennai tomorrow on the occasion of the closing ceremony of the World Chess competition.

Chennai: The closing ceremony of the 44th World Chess Championship will be held tomorrow (9th) evening at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium located on Raja Muttiah Road, Periyamedu, Chennai. The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M.K Stalin State Ministers, chess players and players from various countries and special guests are going to participate in this program.

Due to this, detailed arrangements have been made by the Chennai Metropolitan Traffic Police Department.

Traffic congestion is likely to occur on Raja Muthaiyach Road, EV Ra Periyar Road, Madhya Square and surrounding areas from 3 pm to 9 pm tomorrow.

As a result, vehicles will not be allowed to pass through Raja Muthiah Road from Choolai Highway junction from 3 pm onwards, according to the Chennai Traffic Police.

Such vehicles may ply through Chula Highway EVK Sampath Road and EV Ra Road. Similarly, vehicles will not be allowed from EVK Sampath Road Jeremiah Road junction towards Raja Muthiah Road.

Commercial vehicles will not be allowed to proceed towards Central from EVR Road Kengu Reddy Road Junction, Nair Bridge Junction, Gandhi Irwin Junction, similarly commercial vehicles coming from Broadway will be diverted towards Moolakothalam via Kuralakam, Thangach Road, Waldocks Road. The Chennai Traffic Police also said that these vehicles can reach their routes via the Vyasarpadi flyover.

Therefore, the Chennai Traffic Police has advised the motorists to avoid these road routes and use other routes and the public who have to come to the Central Railway Station to plan their itinerary in advance.
