Sensex Rises 170 Points, Nifty Holds Strong Above 21,780 Mark: A Market Overview

On Friday, the Sensex and Nifty indices exhibited positive trends, with the Sensex gaining 0.23% to reach 71,595.49 points, and the Nifty rising by 0.3% to settle at 21,782.50 points.

While the overall market maintained a steady stance, midcap stocks, specifically the Nifty Midcap 50, experienced a dip of 107.7 points, marking a 0.78% decrease to 13,840.9 points.

Gainers and Losers

The top gainers in the market belonged to sectors such as NIFTY BANK, NIFTY PVT BANK, and NIFTY PSU BANK, posting gains of 1.36%, 1%, and 0.96%, respectively. Notable individual stock performances included Grasim, SBI, and Apollo Hospitals, showing increases of 5.92%, 3.7%, and 3.25%, respectively.

Conversely, M&M, Bharti Airtel, and NTPC found themselves among the top losers, with declines of 2.46%, 1.94%, and 1.87%, respectively.

Global Market Snapshot

Taking a glance at international markets, the Hang Seng and Nikkei in Asian markets recorded declines of 0.84% and 0.09%, settling at 15,746.58 points and 36,897.42 points, respectively. On the other side of the globe, the NASDAQ in the US traded positively, gaining 25.96 points, equivalent to a 0.16% increase, reaching 15,782.6 points.

Commodity and Currency Movements

In the currency market, the Indian Rupee (INR) experienced a slight decline of 0.05%, closing at Rs. 83.03 against the US dollar. Gold and silver futures prices remained relatively stable, with gold settling at Rs. 62,440, and silver ending at Rs. 70,957. Meanwhile, crude oil futures prices saw an increase of $0.57, or 0.75%, reaching $76.53 per barrel.

Fuel Prices in Delhi and Mumbai

On Friday, fuel prices remained unchanged in Delhi, with diesel and petrol priced at Rs. 89.66/liter and Rs. 96.76/liter, respectively. In Mumbai, diesel and petrol were available at Rs. 94.25/liter and Rs. 106.29/liter.

Cryptocurrency Update

Today’s cryptocurrency market saw Bitcoin trading at $46,549.78, reflecting a 4.16% increase. Ethereum, the second most popular token, experienced a gain of 1.86%, reaching $2,468.59.

Other notable cryptocurrencies such as BNB and Cardano recorded increases of 2.03% and 2.08%, trading at $321.96 and $0.5394, respectively. Dogecoin also saw a rise of 1.76%, trading at $0.08142.
