Automobile enthusiasts across India have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of the facelifted Tata Safari SUV. Originally expected to debut at the Auto Expo 2023, enthusiasts were met with a pleasant surprise when Tata Motors unveiled the Red Dark editions based on the existing Tata Safari and Harrier SUVs. These editions came packed with a slew of new features, including advanced ADAS technology, but they were not the highly anticipated facelifted models.
Now, in a strategic move to leverage the festive season sales momentum, Tata Motors has teased the impending launch of the Tata Safari facelift SUV on social media platforms. According to these social media posts, bookings for the new Tata Safari SUV are set to open on October 6.
From the teaser video, it becomes evident that Tata Motors’ design team has gone the extra mile to infuse the SUV with a futuristic and premium aesthetic. In fact, the design of the Tata Safari facelift bears a striking resemblance to the recently launched Tata Nexon facelift SUV.
Notable design elements include full-width LED DRLs, a split headlamp arrangement featuring vertically stacked headlights, a reworked front bumper, an upright front fascia, and a completely revamped front grille, among other updates.
Furthermore, earlier spy shots of the Tata Safari facelift test mules have unveiled a host of interior enhancements. These include a new layered dashboard, touch-sensitive HVAC controls equipped with physical buttons for fan speed and temperature control, a fresh digital driver’s display, a larger touchscreen infotainment system, and more.
Much like the recently introduced Tata Nexon facelift SUV, expectations are high for the Tata Safari facelift to sport a two-spoke steering wheel adorned with an illuminated logo. Additionally, the model is anticipated to feature advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) technology from mid-level trim options.
Under the hood, the upcoming Tata Safari facelift SUV could house an all-new 1.5-liter, 4-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine, rumored to deliver 168bhp and 280Nm of peak torque. This engine made its debut at the Auto Expo 2023 and reflects Tata Motors’ commitment to embracing cutting-edge powertrains.
The diesel engine, a staple in the product lineup, is expected to remain largely unchanged. The 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder, turbocharged diesel engine is likely to maintain its 168bhp and 350Nm of peak torque, with both engine options offered in manual and automatic variants.
The facelifted Tata Safari SUV is poised to equip Tata Motors with a more competitive edge, allowing it to take on formidable rivals like the MG Hector Plus, Mahindra Scorpio N, and Mahindra XUV700. Anticipated to offer a heightened sense of luxury compared to the outgoing model, the Tata Safari facelift promises to be a significant step forward in the world of SUV elegance.
