Electric vehicles (EVs) are revolutionizing the automotive industry, and China emerges as a driving force in this transformation. Among the notable contributors, BYD shines not only in electric cars but also in the two-wheeler segment.

BYD, renowned for its cutting-edge technology, has recently forged a significant partnership with Scorpio Electric, a Singapore-based electric motorcycle startup. This collaboration aims to introduce Scorpio’s sleek X1 electric scooter to the burgeoning ASEAN market.

Leveraging BYD’s extensive network in Southeast Asia, Scorpio strategically targets key countries such as Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Vietnam, where electric mobility is rapidly gaining traction.

The collaboration extends beyond market expansion, as Scorpio explores integrating BYD’s advanced battery technology into its electric two-wheelers. This strategic move aligns with BYD’s reputation for reliable and efficient battery technology—critical factors influencing consumers contemplating the switch to electric vehicles.

In a bid to enhance quality control and efficiency, Scorpio has established its headquarters in Shenzhen, China, sharing a home base with BYD. Proximity to BYD’s operations enables tighter oversight of production, a pivotal consideration given Singapore’s limited automotive industry and emphasis on efficient public transportation.

Scorpio’s flagship model, the X1 electric scooter, targets the premium market with its high-end technology and performance, featuring a 10-kilowatt motor capable of reaching a top speed of 65 mph.
