Nissan has taken a groundbreaking step with the debut of Ariya Nismo at the 2024 Tokyo Auto Salon, marking the brand’s inaugural entry into the high-performance EV segment within the Nismo lineup.
This electric SUV, the fourth addition to the Nismo family following the ICE-powered GT-R, Z, and Skyline, showcases a sleek body kit and a power-packed performance. Nissan’s plan includes releasing two variants in Japan, with the base model delivering 362hp of power and 560Nm of torque, while the more potent version generates an impressive 430hp/600Nm.
Delving into the specifications, the entry-level Ariya Nismo incorporates dual electric motors and a 66kWh battery pack, while the top-tier variant boasts a larger 91kWh battery. Weighing in at 2,080kg and 2,220kg respectively, these EVs promise an exhilarating driving experience.
While specific performance stats haven’t been disclosed by Nissan, expectations are high for the 430hp version to outpace the previously most powerful Ariya, which achieved 0-96km/h in 4.8 seconds with a 389hp/600Nm powertrain.
The Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) Ariya Nismo comes equipped with “highly rigid” 20-inch wheels and custom 255/45 R20 tires for enhanced handling and cornering speeds. A unique Nismo driving mode ensures a faster throttle response and can be paired with a Formula E-inspired artificial soundtrack for an immersive driving experience. Inside, updated front seats, red accents, and Nismo branding add to the overall allure.
While the flagship EV is set to hit Japanese showrooms soon, details about its availability in other markets are yet to be disclosed. Stay tuned for the arrival of Nissan’s trailblazing Ariya Nismo in the electric vehicle landscape.
