MV Agusta Superveloce 98: A Limited-Run Celebration of Iconic Engineering

Published on

MV Agusta has unveiled a masterpiece for motorcycle enthusiasts, the limited-run Superveloce 98. With only 300 units in production, this high-performance supersport bike is a tribute to the 80th anniversary of MV Agusta’s iconic 98cc engine. Dressed in a captivating “Rosso Varghera” paint scheme, the Superveloce 98 is a harmonious blend of modern engineering and retro charm. Let’s dive into its most remarkable features.

1. A Remarkable Milestone:

The MV 98 two-stroke engine, designed in 1943, marked the inception of MV Agusta’s journey as a motorcycle manufacturer. Notably, the Vespa 98 was the first mass-produced motorcycle to employ this legendary engine. To celebrate its 80th anniversary, MV Agusta has graced us with the limited-run Superveloce 98.

2. Neo-Retro Aesthetics:

The Superveloce 98 exudes a neo-retro vibe with a muscular fuel tank, a round LED headlamp, a sloping windscreen, and a clip-on handlebar adorned with a special-edition badge. The rider enjoys a unique saddle finished in Alcantara, and the bike’s voice is amplified by a special titanium exhaust from Arrow. Completing its sleek look is a circular LED taillamp and a full fairing. The motorcycle boasts 5.5-inch full-color TFT instrumentation and rides on forged aluminum wheels.

3. Precision Braking with Brembo:

The braking system of the Superveloce 98 is a marvel, featuring top-of-the-line Brembo Stylema disc brakes. This system has been meticulously fine-tuned to offer exceptional performance while reducing unnecessary rolling resistance. It’s equipped with a Continental MK100 ABS unit for precision and control.

4. Powerhouse Performance:

Under the Superveloce 98’s fairing resides a potent 798cc, liquid-cooled, inline-triple engine. This remarkable powerplant delivers an impressive 153hp at 13,250rpm and a peak torque of 88Nm at 10,100rpm. The engine features a DOHC setup with a mechanical chain tensioner and DLC tappet for optimal performance. The mill is paired with a cassette-type six-speed gearbox and an EAS 3.0 bi-directional quick-shifter.

5. Suspension Excellence:

For a smooth and controlled ride, the Superveloce 98 is equipped with an adjustable suspension system. Marzocchi inverted forks with TiN low friction treatment grace the front end, while a Sachs progressive and fully adjustable mono-shock unit takes care of the rear. This ensures that the bike offers a comfortable yet dynamic ride for riders with diverse preferences.

The MV Agusta Superveloce 98 is more than just a motorcycle; it’s a celebration of MV Agusta’s storied history and a testament to their commitment to performance and style. With a limited production run and a host of top-of-the-line features, this bike is sure to capture the hearts of motorcycle enthusiasts and collectors alike. Donning the iconic “Rosso Varghera” paint, the Superveloce 98 is a work of art that pays homage to a remarkable 80-year legacy of engineering excellence.
