The eVX Unveiled
Maruti Suzuki showcased its revolutionary electric vehicle concept, the eVX, at the Japan Mobility Show in Tokyo. Prior to this, the eVX made its debut appearance at Auto Expo 2023. Now, test mules of the Maruti Suzuki eVX have been sighted on Indian roads, fully concealed under black tape, keeping its design details under wraps.
Testing in Delhi
The latest sighting of the eVX occurred on the streets of Delhi, where the car was undergoing rigorous testing. The extensive black tape camouflage and the removal of the glass covering the rear taillights indicate Maruti’s commitment to keeping the car’s exterior design a well-guarded secret.
Powertrain and Design
The Maruti Suzuki eVX is anticipated to be built on a dedicated electric skateboard platform. This platform configuration places the wheels at the vehicle’s extremities and integrates the floorboard with batteries. This design not only contributes to the car’s electrifying performance but also ensures a more spacious and roomy interior. The eVX boasts dimensions of 4,300 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width, and 1,600 mm in height, making it a formidable presence on the road, similar in size to the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara.
As for the powertrain, Maruti Suzuki has divulged that the eVX will house a robust 60 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, delivering an impressive claimed driving range of 550 km. Collaborating with Toyota for the eVX’s production, Maruti Suzuki is also expected to offer a base variant featuring a 48 kWh battery pack, providing a commendable range of 400 km. These powertrain options will cater to a wide range of consumers, ensuring that the eVX meets diverse driving needs.
Cutting-Edge Interiors
Inside the eVX, Maruti Suzuki has embraced cutting-edge technology and a futuristic design. The Japan Mobility Show offered a sneak peek into the car’s interiors, revealing a modern dashboard with dual digital screens, one dedicated to the infotainment system and the other serving as the digital instrument cluster. The car features a unique yoke-shaped two-spoke steering wheel with touch-based controls, enhancing the driving experience.
The dashboard is equipped with touch-controlled buttons for climate control and menu navigation, offering a seamless and intuitive user experience. A rotary knob in the center console serves as the gear selector, adding a touch of sophistication to the cabin. The eVX also features vertically oriented AC vents, door handles with ambient lighting, and additional touch-based controls, ensuring that the car’s interior is as cutting-edge as its electric powertrain.
